Unpacking...

Well, not really. It's too depressing!

But my bag is still sitting there in the same place.

BoooooooHooHoo!! We are home!! Back to San Francisco. Back to reality. Lucky for us, it has stopped raining and it is actually decent out! Compared to Hawaii, however, it's freezing still!

I am all ready planning my next trip! I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for Hawaii specials so if you know something I don't, let me know!

Here are the sad, yet pretty, taking off pictures. How can anyone leave this beautiful island?

It seems like just yesterday I was taking pictures of us arriving!

*sniff* Until next time!!

January 29, 2010

Is today really our last full day in Hawaii?? NOOOOOO!! I really, really am not ready to go home yet. I miss Scott and the puppies but definitely not the rain and cold weather we're having back in San Francisco this month.

We decided to spend our last day at the beach. Not just any beach, Wialea Beach! If you haven't been to the Grand Wialea, you are missing out. It is breathtaking! Gorgeous! Probably the most beautiful resort I have ever been to. I have had the pleasure of staying there a few times. It is quite an experience.

We started off at one their many bars for a drink (of course we did!).

I have seen many people getting married in this cute little church on the beach which is also part of the resort!

Another one of their many pools...if that's what you want to call it.
From January

They even have their own beach that goes into ANOTHER pool! Actually, I believe the lazy river is connected to this one.
From January

Last but not least, here is the beach we spent the day at. Ahhhh...so relaxed!
From January

I wish I had walked around the resort a little more, especially on the inside and out front, but we wanted to get back to the beach. Ya know, being the last day and all. Oh well, I will have to go back soon!!

What a great last day!

I started off with a Maui tomato and onion salad with macadamia nuts and Point Reyes blue. cheese. Yummm!
From January

My sis started with the Seared Ahi Sashimi with pineapple tamarind sauce. So good!
From January

My sister and I split our entree's. I ordered off the Appetizers and got the Seared Beef Polynesian served in a grilled papaya. To die for!!
From January

Jamie ordered one of our all time favorite dishes from Mama's and probably the best tasting thing in the whole entire world! She got the Mahimahi stuffed with lobster, crab, Maui onion and baked in a macadamia nut crust! Heaven? YES!!
From January

For dessert we ordered a Mama's Chocolate Kuau Pie wish was delicious!
From January

Another dessert that was ordered was another one of our all time favorites, the Banana Macadamia Nut Crisp served warm with homemade Tahitian ice cream. It melts in your mouth and comes with an oh-so-cute turtle cookie on top!

And there you have it. Our night at Mama's Fish House! If you're ever visiting Maui, it is one of those "must go to" places. I promise you won't regret it.

Cheers from me to you!

January 27, 2010

This morning we decided to eat breakfast at Kehie Cafe. They are known for their Loco Moco's and Breakfast Fried Rice, which doesn't sound good at all. Until...you...take a BITE!! Then you're hooked for life!! Yes, it's really THAT good!

We all shared a cinnamon roll to start us off...

Between all of us, we got a couple fried rice plates, a papaya with yogurt, granola and raisins, and a fresh fruit plate. Yumm Yumm Yumm! I can't complain about most fresh fruit because I live in California where just about everything I eat is as fresh as can be. But, there's some things like papaya, banana and pineapple that are to die for in Hawaii!

January 26, 2010

After two days straight at the beach, we needed a day off. Well, WE didn't need it, but our poor white bodies did! I don't think I have ever gone to Hawaii this white before. Scary! Luckily none of us got too burnt (except maybe Diana :). But, to prevent some major burnt bods, we decided to hit up the other side of the island and do some shopping.

Paia is a small hippyish town. It's really cute! It reminds me of a street you would find in Berkeley.

Of course, we had to eat more yummy fish tacos. Wow! I didn't actually order than, I got a salad. I did try one though and they were amazing! I might even go as far as saying they are better than Jaws. Crazy, I know!

I know you know where this light is from! I just had to take a picture of it...

We walked around for a little while, did some shopping, worked up an appetite again and stopped for one of Maui's famous shave ice! I crave these things on a regular basis at home, especially during the summer! And, yes, these are the ones with ice cream on the bottom.

Aloha, Day 3!!

I have been getting up bright and early and going for a 40 minute run before the sun is up. Actually, right when I'm done with my run, as I'm sitting and stretching and taking in the breathtaking views, the sun starts to rise over Haaleakala (the volcano on Maui). Priceless! Could life get any better than this? Plus, I am running on the beach! I don't even need my iPod since I would much rather listen to the waves. To top it off, it is whale season and I was able to see whales playing out in the water as I ran along the shore.

This afternoon we packed some sandwiches, snacks and drinks and headed to Kaanapali Beach. We made a day of it since it's about 40 minutes away from where we are staying in Kihei.

I actually did bring my camera today! Here are a few pictures of the beach, and one of me!

Aloha! Day 2 in Hawaii was spent at the beach! Duh! I talked to Scott and he said it's still raining at home. Man am I glad I'm in paradise right now!

I didn't take my camera to the beach today. I was a little scared about the sand and leaving it in my bag while I played in the waves. I did take it to watch the sunset again though! And, of course, to grab a drink or a few for happy hour again.

Really though, we have had this trip planned for months. It couldn't have come at a better time! Me and four of my best girlfriends (one being my sis) are here in Maui for a much needed ladies trip. YES!!

I cannot tell you how amazing it felt to get off the plane and feel 80 degree weather!

Our first stop was at one of our favorite fish taco restaurants, Jaws, in Kihei. Deeeeeelicious! Of course, a beer was in order. Plus, we arrived just in time for happy hour!
